A study tried to determine if Tai Chi helped had positive effects on older adults suffering from back pain. One of the causes of back pain is aging, in which there is a deterioration of the ligaments, vertebral disks, and muscles, among others. There are light exercise routines oriented toward older adults, and the objective of the study was to compare whether Tai Chi was more or less beneficial than the light exercise routines. The result was that Tai Chi reduced back pain and increased stability, reducing the risk of falling, which was not seen in the light exercise group.
