Patients Told They Were Given A Placebo Also Experienced A Positive Effect
In drug studies, placebos are mostly given to the control group in order to have a baseline to compare the effectiveness of a drug. Participants do not know whether they have been given the drug or the placebo. However, scientists have found that they could be beneficial also even when the patient knows it is a placebo, by using the power of suggestion.
